If you’re local to Thames Ditton you may well have popped into The Deli for breakfast or lunch, or just for one of their delicious coffees. If you haven’t been in there and you live locally you really should go – you can expect to see a whole range of scrumptious sandwiches, the freshly made Salt Beef is very popular, homemade daily specials and yummy cakes. There’s even a fully licensed bar with Moretti Italian Beer on tap, and if you’re in the mood they’ll open a bottle of Prosecco or wine for you!
It was wonderful to have a proper chat with Chris and Louise who run The Deli, they’re a truly lovely couple who have built up a thriving local café/bistro. Whilst I was there, it was great to see the steady stream of friendly locals who frequent the café and to overhear their conversations and banter – this is living in the community at its best ?
The day I went to The Deli the daily hot specials included a homemade vegetarian Black Bean Chilli with Courgette & Kidney Bean Patties served with Brown Rice, also on the menu was Lasagne, homemade of course! I had the lasagne for my lunch which was served with a fresh salad and coleslaw and I can report back to you it was very tasty indeed. The choices of homemade specials change daily –what will be on the menu when you go in? Think Cajun Chicken with Rice, Chilli Beef Patties, Hoi Sin Pork with Noodles…. the list goes on, they’re very creative with their tasty dishes and that’s something I like! Why not have a look at the daily the specials on Instagram? They’re posted daily once they’re cooked and ready to serve.
Aside from running The Deli, Chris and Louise run an external catering business, catering for all different types of events. They can provide food for you in your home or at a local venue and offer hot food, barbecues (they have their own barbecue they bring to you) and they do a great buffet with lots of choices – get in touch with them now if you have an event coming up and catering is required.
And as if that isn’t enough to keep them busy they also have a market stall at Kingston Market – Big Dogs London. If you’re in Kingston – why not go along and get your lunch? On the menu are traditional bratwursts, cheesy dogs, vege dogs & chilli beef dogs to name just a few.
The Deli is also available to hire for your own private event, they can seat up to 20 for dinner or lunch – and if it’s a party then they host up to around 30 of your guests. What a great idea if you’d like to host an intimate dinner with friends, or if you have a Mums night out to organise? They’re licensed until 11pm but that can be extended.
If it’s the summertime, they have a pretty garden that is open too., with a painted mural wall and overlooking a stream that flows down to the Thames
I would highly recommend a trip to The Deli soon – visit them at 1b Criterion Buildings, Winters Bridge, Thames Ditton KT7 0SS. Or why not give them a call on 020 8398 7850.
